It’s simple, convenient, and works like a check. Present your CUA Visa Debit Card for payment at any merchant worldwide that accepts Visa Debit Cards. The money is deducted from your CUA checking account, not a credit line.
The Debit Card can be used in three different ways:
- ATM Cash – Access your account for up to $500 per day worldwide
- PIN Transactions – Swipe your card and enter your PIN at any point-of-sale merchant location
- Signature Transactions – Use it like a credit card with your signature in person or on-line
The Debit Card streamlines record keeping. You’ll receive a receipt for each transaction and it will be detailed on your monthly checking account statement from CUA.
When using your card with your PIN at any cash back participating merchant, you can receive cash back with your transaction and avoid that additional trip to the ATM. This can be done at most local grocery stores and many other locations. When in doubt, just ask the merchant if you can get cash back on your transaction.
When a merchant asks you "is it debit or credit", the natural tendency is to say debit because you know it is a debit card. By requesting credit, the amount is still deducted from your checking account, but it isn't necessary to enter your PIN (personal identification number). Same great card, two different methods of payment. You choose the method that is right for you!
Stop by any CUA location today and complete a Debit card application. Within days you will enjoy the convenience this card brings to your life. After receiving your card, register the number with Verified By Visa and enjoy the security of knowing your card is protected when you shop on-line.
Surcharge VS ATM Transaction Fees
Surcharge is the amount that a foreign ATM owner (non-CUA or non-CO-OP machines) will charge you for the use of their machine. This charge is generally $1.50 - $2.50. This charge is not from CUA. That's why we joined the CO-OP Network and why we have a mutual use ATM agreement with several local credit unions to provide you extra ATM's that can be utilzed surcharge free.
ATM Transaction Fees are fees that may be assessed to you (based on the type of checking account you have with CUA) in excess of the number of monthly free foreign ATM transactions. See the current service fee schedule for a list of those fees. For those with a CUA checking of any type, these fees may be avoided by using CUA owned or CO-OP Network ATMs anywhere. Check out our POWER CHECKING account to avoid ATM Transaction Fees!
