  • Any small business concern that meets SBA’s size standards (either the industry based sized standard or the alternative size standard)
  • Any business, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, 501(c)(19) veterans organization, or tribal business concern (sec. 31(b)(2)(C) of the Small Business Act) with the greater of:
    • 500 employees, or
    • Meets the SBA industry size standard if more than 500
  • Any business with NAICS code beginning with 72 (Accommodations and Food Services) that has more than one physical location and employs less than 500 per location
  • Sole proprietors, independent contractors, and self-employed persons

​What Do I need to Apply

  • Benefit Ownership Certification Form with a copy of Driver’s License(s)
  • Borrower entity documents: Articles of Incorporation; Operating Agreement; Partnership Documents; By-Laws; Trust Documents; Etc.
  • Payroll tax filings reported to the IRS
  • Paycheck Protection Program Loan Amount Worksheet and FTE Count
  • Deposit account info for the disbursement of funds as well as auto-debit of payments on any balance
  • Brief description of the nature of the business
  • If franchise — Franchise Agreement and SBA Franchise Addendum may be required
  • Any other documents the SBA determines necessary


How do I calculate the maximum amount I can borrow?

Step 1: Aggregate payroll costs from the last twelve months.

Step 2: Subtract any compensation paid to an employee in excess of an annual salary of $100,000 and/or any amounts paid to an independent contractor or sole proprietor in excess of $100,000 per year.

Step 3: Calculate average monthly payroll costs (divide the amount from Step 2 by 12).

Step 4: Multiply the average monthly payroll costs from Step 3 by 2.5.

Step 5: Add the outstanding amount of an Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) made between January 31, 2020 and April 3, 2020.

What is the interest rate on a PPP loan?

The interest rate will be 1% or 100 basis points.

What will be the maturity date on a PPP loan?

The maturity is two years.

Is the PPP “first-come, first-served?”


When will I have to begin paying principal and interest on my PPP loan?

You will not have to make any payments for six months following the date of funds disbursement.

Can my PPP loan be forgiven in whole or in part?

Yes. The amount of loan forgiveness can be up to the full principal amount of the loan and any accrued interest.

Business Digital Banking

The benefit of Business Digital Banking is that a business owner/member can authorize sub-users of online banking such as a bookkeeper or accountant whom which do not need to be authorized signers on the membership.  They can set specific permissions, roles, and limits for each sub-user.  Unique credentials are created to prevent the sharing of usernames and passwords. Allowing for oversight and security.

Opening a Business Membership

With a Business Membership Share Account, you have ownership in Credit Union of America. A minimum $25 balance in the membership account is all that's required to gain access to the wide array of business services and products at CUA.  We will need the name, address, date of birth, SSN, physical address, and a copy of a valid ID for each individual that owns 25% or more of the legal entity business and for the individual who has significant responsibility for managing the business and all authorized signers. This applies to all new accounts opened on and after May 11th, but does not apply to sole proprietorships.
