Why am I called a“member”and not a“customer”? Membership allows account holders to be more involved in the direction of the credit union. Credit Union of America (CUA) is a financial cooperative- a single savings account buys you ownership in CUA. Your membership gives you the right to vote in the appointment of our leaders. So you see, you’re much more than just a ‘customer’. Am I eligible to be a member? You are eligible for CUA membership by meeting one of the following qualifications: ■ If you live or work in one of these counties: Barton, Butler, Cowley, Ellis, Ellsworth, Harper, Harvey, Kingman, McPherson, Pawnee, Reno, Rice, Rush, Russell, Saline, Sedgwick, Stafford, Sumner ■ If you work in, or are retired from, the field of education in Kansas ■ If an immediate family member belongs to CUA ■ If you work for a CUA Employer Partner Group (for full list see CUofAmerica.com) ■ If you are a member of the American Consumer Council (ACC) or become one (You can join for no additional cost at any CUA location.) How do I become a member? A simple investment share earns you ownership and membership in CUA. The share is in the form of a basic savings account. A $25.00 deposit is required, and if you ever close the account your money is returned to you. M E M B E R S H I P
