CUA Executive Spotlight: CFO Sam Grove

Sam Grove is one of the many pillars that make up the leadership team at Credit Union of America (CUA), having been an integral part of our team for over 12 years. Throughout his tenure, he has held various roles, including Financial Analyst, Senior Financial Analyst, AVP Finance and Data Analytics, and VP Finance, before assuming his current role as Chief Financial Officer.

Educated at Kansas State University and Wichita State University, Grove holds a BS in Business Administration-Finance and an MBA, showcasing his well-rounded understanding of financial management.

Grove oversees critical aspects of CUA's operations, including accounting, finance, payment solutions, internal audit, and compliance departments. He and his team oversee the financial health of CUA and its ability to serve members effectively.

Grove's commitment to CUA's purpose is evident in his enthusiastic approach to each workday. He finds inspiration in the challenge of making a difference in members' lives. For him, "Welcome to Friendly" is not just a tagline; it's a daily commitment.

Grove believes that success lies in remembering CUA's humble beginnings in a science teacher’s closet at East High. It’s encouraging to see how far CUA has come to serve Kansans.

One of Grove's proudest reflections from his tenure is the shift toward work-life balance for CUA employees. This focus on employee well-being has fostered a healthier workplace and has contributed to the organization's overall success.

To Grove, serving members isn't just a priority; it's the driving force behind every decision. While staying competitive with product offerings is very important, Grove understands that true success comes from fostering a culture that goes beyond transactions – a genuinely friendly culture. It’s what sets CUA apart from the rest.
